Finding myself in need of more beard oil, I almost made the same mistake I always have of picking up some no-name brand off Amazon. As I was scrolling through them I found myself complaining to my wife about how hard it was to find a scent that I actually liked. Everything seems to be so "generically manly" these days... "Long for those days in the mines with sulphur-infused charcoal!" "Reminisce about those old family gatherings with this concoction of leather, cigarette smoke, and pinesol." When you finally found one that sounded reasonable, you'd get it and find the oil to be watered down or have a terrible feeling, the scent would smell overly processed and fake, and even then it would fade within an hour or two of putting it on. It was trash.
Finally tired of my bitching, my wife decided to do a little research and came across Luxurious Bastard. After a quick scroll through the listings, I figured I had nothing to lose. The scents sounded fantastic, the ratings were top of the line, the price was actually less than the cheap ones I was looking at on Amazon, and the idea of them actually being handcrafted gave me hope that maybe the quality would be a step up. I cannot put to words just how unprepared for what I received I was.
The shipping estimate was 4-7 days, but it shipped out (and actually made it to the post office) the day I ordered it and it was in my mailbox on the other side of the country two days later.
The scent is absolutely incredible. I ordered Red and Patriot, and while Patriot smells clean and great, it reminds me of a good scent for a hot summer day. Red, on the other hand, is astonishingly good. It smells clean and deep, the scents actually smell natural instead of overly processed, and I've yet to interact with someone who didn't comment positively on it. I've yet to have a day where the scent wasn't still present as I was getting ready for bed. It just doesn't wear off.
The oil itself was a surprise as well. It looks and feels incredibly clean, applies to the beard evenly and beautifully, and leaves both my beard and skin feeling silky smooth. I haven't had any issues with it drying out or failing to absorb and leaving that greasy sheen some do.
I was impressed enough that I went back the day after receiving my first vial and ordered four more just to make sure I never run out.
As an added bonus, I reached out to the owner to ask a couple questions and got extremely fast, friendly, and thorough responses back. From the company to the products, this has been the find of a lifetime as far as beard products go. I cannot recommend them enough. If you're on the fence about a scent, I'd recommend Red in a heartbeat. If you're on the fence about placing an order in general, take the chance. You won't regret it.
